"In my 23+ years in government, you all have been the BEST of the BEST to work with. I am forever grateful for all that I have learned from you!"

- Sara Warmuth, New Hanover County NC

seven roots has worked in design and development for independent grocers over 40 collective years. Our operationally-focused, team-based approach to store development and grocery support is the defining characteristic of what we do.

Why? We have chosen to make our careers in the independent grocery sector because we believe in the power of community-based projects to empower neighbors, leaders and entrepreneurs. Our firm is proudly worker-owned.

Who? Our work is focused on neighborhood grocers, community stores, natural foods, food co-ops, small format retailers, and rural grocery. We regularly partner with governments and municipalities and community leaders seeking to impact their local grocery landscape.

seven roots is supporting many groups that are part of a wave of grocery organizing that is pioneering new models of ownership and capitalization, with a goal of improved food access for LILA communities, “food deserts”, food swamps, and similar areas.
